There is a lot of information which I preferred to read a little at a time which took almost a year to finish. This 75th anniversary illustrated edition does have colour plates but I don't find them as detailed or compelling as those in our older edition. Well, most of his problem was with those bite-sized little rundowns of the myths, which is what I liked about it.

From the extracts the textual content seems the same but where it seems to differ are the illustrations and the position of the Contents in the book. Durante mais de 20 anos fez carreira como diretora numa escola para raparigas - onde defendeu a importância da educação das mulheres. Hamilton does remark repeatedly that later Greeks and Romans were turned off by the misbehaving of the gods and tried to sweep the original versions under the rug.I do admit to feeling offended, almost, that this amazing body of Norst myth should be included as an afterthought in 20 pages of a book nearly 470 main pages long, leaving out all the things that make the Norse world view make so much sense. Since its original publication by Little, Brown and Company in 1942, Edith Hamilton's Mythology has sold millions of copies throughout the world and established itself as a perennial bestseller in its various available formats: hardcover, trade paperback, mass market paperback, and e-book.

There was this one guy, whose name I'm forgetting at the moment, whom you can tell she just despised, but was too polite to say.Hamilton’s work is a perennial bestseller, covering the major gods and goddesses, as well as the most famous myths, of these three mythological traditions. But I think that none of those girls exhibit wisdom, reason and chastity that are the virtues of the goddess their place of work was named after. The Roman versions are only mentioned, because the Romans stole their myths wholesale from the Greeks. I have this now on Kindle, I come across this book constantly referenced in other books, so got my own copy. Her celebrated and bestselling books include Mythology, The Greek Way, The Roman Way, and The Echo of Greece.
